Broke Deco
Being the college student that I am, I have essentially no money. But white walls drive me crazy, so I got creative. With a pile of 2x4's that were deemed trash and some free posters offered by NASA's JPL, my roommate and I made our apartment pop.
The process
What began with a couple TIFF files and a collection of warped wood ended with what you see on the left. We chose 6 of the 14 posters offered online, saturated the images for print in Photoshop, built and painted the frames, mounted the posters inside, and voila, a new room.

the before
As anyone can see, the photo to the left seems to be a spruced up asylum. While I could've survived without any adjustment, a little art seems to go a long way. So we made it happen. Over a weekend we took the apartment to the left to the apartment below, and we did it all for under $70.

The after
A progression of ideas embodied in each poster. Beauty at low cost. An intentional slight staggering of the posters across the wall to capture the attention of visitors and draw them in. To get to this point required 12 hours of planing, jointing, cutting, sanding, and assembly, as well as 6 hours of painting. Being an avid woodworker, the payoff was two fold: 12 hours of wood working to get years of visual pleasure. Check out the pictures below to get a better idea of the process.
